Discrete or Continuous variable?

Experiment: Play the game of MonopolyRandom Variable: Number of hotels you own.–Is this discrete or continuous?Experiment: Take your temperature Random Variable: Temperature in degress Fahrenheit–Is this discrete or continuous?Experiment: Observe a classmate’s right earRandom Variable: the earlobe is attached or detached–Is this discrete or continuous? Experiment: Attend a concert.Random Variable: Number of songs performed–Is this discrete or continuous? This is statistics, by the way. AND thanks soooo much for the help!!!

Discrete is something such as population … you can’t have 0.32432 ect of a human.Continuous is something like weight where you’re exact weight actually could be say 58.252088102kgs.From this, you should be able to give it a fair go.... Show More
Ask, can you have ‘half’ of one, or can the number involve fractions? If yes, continuous, if no, discrete.Number of hotels – discrete (can’t have half a hotel).Temperature – continuous – 25.4 degrees is perfectly possible.Earlobe – discrete – only two choices and can’t be ‘half-attached’. Songs performed – again, not much sense talking of half a song performed (or 0.2 of one etc), so discrete.... Show More

https://shorturl.im/Ki35YDiscrete “If a variable can take on any value between two specified values, it is called a continuous variable; otherwise, it is called a discrete variable.” Between $10.99 and $11.00, there is no valid value for cost, so cost cannot take values between those two specified values. So according to that above definition, it is not continuous. Nowhere is it written that discrete variables only take integral values. Alternatively if you use cents as the unit of cost, then cost can only take integral values. That could never be true of a continuous variable. I maintain that cost is discrete.... Show More
a variable quantity is one that is continuously changing in a frequency that is mostly described as analogue. such a value is quantifiable by the means of measurement.discrete values are different in that they do not continually change, when they do, they are in steps of prescribed values in the frequency and context that is more related to sequences and common in digital aspects or accents.in monopoly the content is that the values will be constantly changing in that the variable of the dice and the variation of the content but the number of hotels you can own is DISCRETE since the value is only allocated to the amount that the player has in the purchase.in temperature the value is that the measurement is continuously changing in the rate of air gas values.therein the value must be CONTINUOUS or analogue.in the variations and permutations that the construction of a physical feature occupies, the earlobe is attached and is a variable item but it does change from person to person so that can be interpreted as an analogue, and must be continuously changing.a concert will play a selection of tunes that is broadcast to an audience in that the content is a discrete value in that the musicians must all know what the value of the music notation is to be played, so in that case the value is DISCRETE...
