do cigarettes expire?

well the same cigarette box have been in my dad's closet on top of his drawer for over 6 months now (he quit for all these months) there were a couple sticks in the box and my dad started smoking again and i'm just worried for him cuz the cigs might be expired. he smoked one out of that box which hasn't even been touched for 6 months. will he be ok??? i heard smoking expired cigs can kill you??

Thats not true at all. If it's been that long, they will probably taste stale, but that is the extent of the problem.... Show More

cigarettes do expire how ever smoking a cigarette that is or isn't expired is bad for your health your dad if he has quite for some time now and is starting back up should seek a physician to try and roll out the problem smoking causes cancer and I am watching my father in law die from smoking so yes get him some help... This should not really be an issue. The probably tasted awful and made him feel worse. Remember that cigarettes are made of paper and dried leaves. As long as the smokes were dry, mold would have stayed clear of them. Most of the Common household bacteria would have been burned anyway.... Show More

Cigarettes can expire, but they are usually good for like a year or two after they are sold. I wouldn't be too worried about expired cigarettes killing your Dad, regular ones will kill him too.... Show More

I doubt it. Nothing ever happened to me. I found a Salem Black in a draw I never go through a couple months ago and smoked it. And I'm fine.I haven't smoked Salem Blacks since 2004.... Show More
