Title: Do you think parents tickling their kids is just weird?

Body: I'm 14 years old, and the other day my mother and I were sitting together in the lounge. I had my bare feet resting on a stool when she suddenly leaned over, grabbed one of my feet, and started tickling it. I was laughing and pulling away, but she didn’t stop. When she finally did, she acted as if nothing had happened. It felt really awkward. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's weird for parents to tickle their kids?

It was always the opposite in my house. My boys were always sneaking up and tickling my bare soles, and I could never get them back because they’ve always gone barefoot everywhere and have soles like leather, and until this summer I liked to keep my own soles really soft and only go barefoot at home. That’s changed this summer, though. I’ve decided to loose my sandals in the closet and go barefoot everywhere myself just like the boys do. I won’t be so ticklish any more.

Nope, it’s not weird at all.

When I see a parent doing that to their kid (so long as they’re still a kid) I find it warming.

It shows they love their child.

I think once a person is like 21 maybe that is a bit old.. Although it probably depends on the person and how close they are with their parent.

I’m going to tickle my kids when I have them!!

I am 14 – The other day my mother was sitting with me on the lounge and I had my bare feet on a stool and she randomly leaned over and held onto one and started tickling it. I was pulling away laughing but she wouldn’t stop and when she did she just pretended it never happened.

It was just…

When my son was around 2-3 years old, I would tickle him and tell him I was checking him for fleas. I’d go to him and say, “Come here, I gotta check you for fleas! I’m gotta get those fleas!” and chase him around tickling him. I really don’t know where I came up with that. One day, in the checkout line at the grocery store, he started yelling, “Mom, when we get home are you gonna check me for fleas?!? Check me for fleas, Mom, soon as we get home! You better get these fleas, Mom!” and he wouldn’t stop yelling it no matter what I did. People were staring at me. Apparently they thought my little guy really has fleas. I was so embarrassed. I still check him for fleas every once in a while, though. : )

No my mom and dad tickle my feet all the time. Parents think feet are cute. Last week I was barefoot and I had my feet on the ottoman and my dad sat down across the ottoman and he stated tickling my feet. I was in a bad mood and he was just trying to cheer me up.

If she tickled your feet for like 5 seconds that would be fine. Continuing to do it after you pulled away and made it clear through your body language you didn’t find it funny is just weird.
