Does anyone remember an old PBS show ,”Getting to know me”?
Does anyone remember an old PBS show called "Getting to Know Me"? I used to LOVE this show from the late 70s to early 80s, which featured an African American family consisting of a father, mother, sister, brother, and a grandmother named Mama Violet. The brother's name was Kwame. I am certain the show was titled "Getting to Know Me." I can still hear the theme song in my head—specifically one line that goes, “'Cause I’m getting to know me (da-da-da-dadada)… getting to know me, and I like it. I like it…” Has anyone else seen this show or have any information about it? I’ve exhausted my Google search and only found another post in a forum with the same question. I’ve also tried Wikipedia and IMDb, but with no luck.

Omg! Yes I remember this show so well. I was just talking to my husband about it! And I too was singing the theme song. ‘Getting to know me, feeling good, feeling proud.. Yes I’m getting to know me, I finally understand and I like it.. I like it” Wow! it brings back so many memories, we used to watch it in our school library, I had such a crush on Kwame..LOL! As far as finding anything out about the show, I haven’t had any luck either. I do know the little girl who played the big sister was on the episode of Martin, when Miles from Moesha was playing Martin’s son. But, I’ve never heard anything else about the rest of the cast.
I’m just glad some body else out there remembers good T.V.

When I was in grade school, the class got to watch episodes of this show as a treat. Sometimes there was another class favorite called “Read all About it” about a couple of adventuring kids that solved word related puzzles. I Loved both these shows, and I’d really love to see them again.
I so remember this show!! I’m looking for a video of the theme song at least. I loved this show during Vacation Video (remember how PBS had tv shows during the day for summer break???)
Yes. I remember this show. 1980 if im not mistaken. I called a PBS station a long time ago trying to remember the name of this show but the person who answered the phone didnt know what i was talking about.
