I have tried olive oil and it is excellent for tanning and very moisturizing for the skin. It should be good quality extra virgin olive oil.

“Yes, when rubbing vegetable oil on your skin and then going outside, you will get a tan. I have tried it and it has worked for me. Putting any type of oil on your body such as baby oil, vegetable oil, or even tanning oil, well make you tan faster, since the sun’s rays are attracted to oil.Instead of using vegetable oil, I would suggest using a regular tanning oil that has a good SPF but will still make you tan. If you just go outside without any sunblock on and just tanning/vegetable oil, you will burn. Just use a tanning oil and that will give you a nice tan. If you want to use vegetable oil, then you can but you may burn but that will soon turn into a tan.”TANNING OIL FORMULA1/4 cup of olive oil1/4 cup vegetable oil2 tablespoons castor oil1/4 teaspoon coconut oilInstructionsIn a saucepan, slowly heat all of the ingredients while stirring, remove from heat and cool. Apply to skin before sunbathing.WARNING – no SPF value.Makes 1/2 cup. Discard after 1 week.

I’ve never tried vegetable oil but I alway use baby oil and it works like a charm!

tanning from a booth, probably. i would try olive oil, more moisture in it i think. i wouldn’t recomend it for tanning in the sun durring the summer…my one friend tried it once, and it turned out badly. like sun poising badly. so i wouldn’t recomend it for sitting in the sun for hours to get tan
