help with this equation ?
Could you please assist me with the following equations? I need to add these two equations together: (0.75x + 1.5y = 40) and (-1.5x - 1.5y = -60). I would like to find the value of (x). Thank you!

Adding both equations together gives -0.75x = -20
Dividing both sides by -0.75 will give x = 26.6666 .. repeating or 26 and 2/3
0.75x + 1.5y = 40 ……….(1)
-1.5x - 1.5y = -60 …………(2)
Solving equation (1) and (2)
0.75x + 1.5y = 40
-1.5x - 1.5y = -60
-0.75x = -20
x = 20/0.75
0.75 (20/0.75) + 1.5y = 40
20 + 1.5y = 40
1.5y = 20
y = 20/1.5
