How do I figure out the charges for Sn(SO3)2?

I know the name for this is tin(IV) sulfite but I don't know why. Can someone explain how you get the charges for this kind of molecule?

It is known that the SO3^2- ion has a charge of minus-2. The formula of a compound is electrically neutral. This means that there is no excess charge on the compound. With two SO3^2- ions, the total negative charge is -4. Thus, the charge on the Sn must be +4 in order to balance the charge on the two sulfite ions.Perhaps the chart of the ions in the link I have provided will help you figure out the formulas of ionic compounds.Hope this helps....
