How do mitosis and meiosis differ in the division of genetic composition?

How do mitosis and meiosis differ in terms of genetic composition during cell division? Please provide a detailed explanation of the key differences between these two processes, focusing on how they each contribute to genetic variation and the overall genetic makeup of the resulting cells.

Mitosis is the process in which the chromosome are separated into two identical sets of chromosomes which in the end have their own nucleus. Meiosis is the division in 1/2 and then in 1/2 again causing 4 sets of chromosomes. So, your answer would be mitosis produces two genetically identical daughter cells but meiosis produces four genetically different daughter cells.

The correct answer is - Second option. Explanation:Mitosis and meiosis are the two different types of cell division. In mitosis, a parent cell gives rise to two genetically identical daughter cells through four successive stages that are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Meiosis specifically occurs in sexually reproducing organisms in which a diploid parent cells gives four distinct haploid, sex cells (through two rounds of cell division that are meiosis I and meiosis II).Thus, second option the right answer.

The correct answer is option B, that is, mitosis gives rise to two genetically similar daughter cells, and however, meiosis gives rise to four genetically distinct daughter cells.  Mitosis refers to the procedure in which the chromosome get distinct into two similar sets of chromosomes that eventually possess their own nucleus. While in meiosis, first the division takes place in half, and then again in half leading to the formation of four genetically different daughter cells.

In Mitosis DNA is replicated and copied. Mitosis makes up two identical daughter cells (also called diploma cells) with the same number of chromosomes. Eg. A cell has 46 chromosomes and undergoes mitosis the daughter cell will also have 46 chromosome. And Mitosis produces Non-reproductive cells such as skin cells. Whereas, during Meiosis chromosomes are split up to make reproductive cells or gametes. Meiosis cells are similar but not genetically identical like in Mitosis. And Meiosis produces 4 cells(also called haploid cells) which have half the number of genetic information that the parent cells originally had. So by the end of Meiosis you would have 23 chromosomes unlike in Mitosis which ends with 46 chromosomes. Hope this helped!

Mitosis is the division of body cells, while meiosis is the division of sex cells. at the end of the division process, mitosis is left with 2 daughter cells, while meiosis is left with 4 daughter cells.

Mitosis is where the chromosome are separated in 2 identical sets of chromosomes and end up with it own nucleus. Meiosis is the division in 1/2 and then in 1/2 again causing 4 identical sets of chromosomes. Hope this helps! If something does not make sense let me know and I will be glad to explain! ?
