How do you remove the little metal wick holder from a glass jar?

I have a candle that was in an attractive glass jar, which I would like to reuse. After burning the candle down as much as possible, I placed the jar in the freezer. The remaining hardened wax came out easily, but a small metal circle that held the wick is still stuck in the bottom of the jar. Is there a recommended method for removing it so I can repurpose the jar?

Goo Gone. It’s held on with a regular adhesive.

I had to do this for a glade candle that I needed for a gift, not the candle, the jar it was in. What I did was I burned the candle all the way down to the wick, sc ɾąքҽ d the rest of the wax out with a spoon, and exposed the metal circle at the bottom. I took near-boiling water (I put some water in a glass, and stuck it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes) and poured it into the bottom of the jar and let it cool completely off. Then I let it sit overnight until the next morning. It had some rust-colored residue on it, and it turns out, that residue weakened the bond of the circle and the glass. I then used a thin metal spoon to wedge underneath the metal, and popped it right off. To get the sticky stuff that’s left out, I poured more hot water into the glass and sc ɾąքҽ d it out with the same spoon. It’s worked every time I’ve tried it with glad candles.

I put about an inch of water and the candleholder in a pot on the stove. Heat it until the water is just about to boil and turn off the heat. Let it sit for a minute or so and the wick holder should be loosened up. Wipe it out with a paper towel. Sometimes it doesn’t even take so long as to boil. ou’ll see the wax melt and the little holder start sliding around. You can take it out of the water then. Whatever you do, don’t boil the water and then put the candleholder in. You risk the glass cracking because of the temperature change.

I’ve done this many times. Use a small screwdriver to dig it out. Works every time.
