how hard is it to paint a car matte white?

this will be my first time painting a car and from what i have read white is the easiest color to paint.. i dont want to do what everyone else has so i thought about matte or flat white.. i am open to other colors but i just want something diff and something that is not going to give me a hard time. like i said this will be my first and if turns out good would like to get in to painting an auto body . the body on the car is almost flawless other than two small golf ball dents and it was keyed and that is why i am repainting. but wanting to know how hard flat white is to shoot or a bright red or burnt orange. hell if flat white is very hard then i am open to suggestions on easy but diff colors

A matte paint job is no different than painting a glossy paint job. The only difference is the flattening agent added to the paint to make it matte. The main problem with painting a matte paint job is you cannot buff it after you paint it, therefore it has to be perfect with no flaws that need to be removed.White would be easier to paint than a metallic paint, but i would not consider it the easiest color there is. In a well lit paint booth, with bright white walls and florescent lights, it can be hard to see your exact spray pattern when spraying white. This can cause dry spots or runs in the paint. Any solid color will be easier to spray than a metallic color, while a darker color will be easier to see while spraying than white would be. The biggest benefit of white is that it is harder to see any flaws in the body work or dirt in the paint. So you will have to choose, do you want to take a chance with being able to spray white and not make any mistakes because of not being able to see it as well during painting. Or do you want to spray a color that will be easier to see while painting but might show dirt and flaws more.

https://shorturl.im/ly65LI think matte paint on cars is (a) a bit try-hard, (b) impractical (car will look dirty most of the time, matte paint just doesn’t wear well). So glossy, and if you’re going to get a re-spray get it done professionally – regardless of what you pick a bad home job will just look bad. BQ: re the hot pink rims, it’s not my style but it definitely stands out. I kind of like it even though I would never do it to my car (I’m more a classic car girl personally – James Dean’s Ferrari is my ideal car).

White is the easiest color to paint, because you cant see the imperfections and runs as easily. But get ready for it to get dirty fast, and unless you are using 2K with dulling agents, it will not clean very easy and it will fade and look bad after some time. There is no easy way to clean matt finishes, as its porous and absorbs road grease. Any effort to clean heavy grease will ruin your paint and maybe even pull it off.
