interesting… put two average size silk worm cocoons in the gallon container, boil them, drain them, eat the two worms, and see how much wet silk you have (less than 1 oz I am sure). then unravel the two silk threads and you got your mile covered plus a small cute tassel at each end

so one mile is less than 0.01 gallons – not wanting to mix your archaic measuring system here with the superior metric system but HOW DO YOU express very small amounts when measured in gallons??? That is another interesting question.

In 1980 USA was supposed to switch to the metric system – what happened?

Now what kind of sense does it make to have to use a mixed system “0.01 gallons”?

have fun in 2008, kiddo

First, you cannot convert gallons (unit of volume) to miles (unit of length).

If you are asking about miles per gallon, that’s a statistic/selling point to vehicles telling the consumer the expected mileage of the vehicle.

So in a round about way, if a vehicle gets 25 miles per gallon, I guess you could say that one gallon equals 1/25th of a mile (one gallon divided by how many miles you’d get from that gallon of gas).

Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for but hope it helps!

you just are trying to drive people nuts..but like the FEET IN SECONDS question, i got an answer here for you too…

my car gets 30 miles to the gallon of gas, so dividing gallon by 30, then every mile i go i need 1/30 of a gallon, or

0.033333333333333333333 gallons

that would depend on how many gallons per mile your car got. My mini van gets 18 miles per gallon, so for me…it’s 18 miles. my Honda crv gets 20 miles per gallon…so it’s 20. the bigger the engine the more gallons it uses per mile.

gallons per mile is silly, mostly for gas guzzlers. miles per tank is a new one, also for guzzlers with large tanks. miles per gallon is the benchmark.

This question is invalid; gallon is unit of volume and mile is unit of length.
