How much is a ten inch oscar worth?
I have had my tiger oscar for a little less than a year, and I am considering finding him a new home. His personality is great, and he shares a tank with five tiger barbs without any issues. He lives comfortably in a 100-gallon aquarium. However, I share this aquarium with my boyfriend, and we are thinking about introducing smaller fish. Although I am quite attached to my oscar and am not sure if I truly want to part with him, I would like to know what a fair price would be if I decide to find him a new home. I would appreciate insights from knowledgeable individuals, as I am aware that opinions can sometimes be harsh here. Thank you for any help!

I would say a petstore would sell it for $30-35. You could maybe get $20-25. you could try and sell him for $30.
You could get a Severum as a tank mate for him. Oscars can be kept with other fish if you have the space. Check out the Severum They are really cool fish and would be fine with you oscar as long as you found an adult or grew one out before you add him to the oscar.

I have had my tiger oscar for a little less than a year and am thinking about finding him a new home. There is no problem with his personality or space… he is a sweet boy that lives with 5 tiger barbs with no problems and he lives in a 100 gal aquarium. The thing is that I share the aquarium with…

Wow, it’s probably going to be hard to find a 10 inch Oscar. What did the person feed it? It’s really kind of hard to overfeed an Oscar. Possibly they put way too much food in, and the Oscar didnt eat it all. It sunk to the bottom and rotted, causing the water quality to deteriate, which killed the fish. So before you put another fish in that tank, test the water.
well, the average price for a 2″ oscar is about 8$ if you were to multiply that by 5 your oscar is worth at least 45$
It obviously takes time + patience to let a fish get so large, he’s definitely worth that.
Good luck, I’d never want to give up any of my fish XD =[
You may consider yourself lucky IF a store accepts him (with a big IF). No questions a large oscar is an awesome pet however, if someone has suitable tank he already has his own fish living in it. Who sets up a newtank most likely starts with juvenile oscar. Your oscar will be REALLy happy if he survives petstore and gets to capable decent caring hands. If you really want to pass your oscar to someone who appreciate it try craigslist. Who knows may be you wil get lucky
Edit: Uh oh, chill out? I didn’t mean to offend you. Just telling you that it won’t be easy to sell large fish. If I were you I’d try craigslist or local newspaper pet section and could end up just giving it away to good owner for free. When I had similar problem with plecostomus getting to big and mean I just rehomed smaller fish to different tank and let pleco have tank for himself.

nobody really WANTS to buy a 10″ oscar… most people buy them as babies and sell them as adults, so the market is flooded with big oscars nobody wants…
you probably will end up having to GIVE him away
that multiply you fish by it’s price as a baby thing is just the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard
about the only fish that increases in price as they grow are clown loaches, cause they are SLOW growers
you could keep some “smallish” fish with him… not neons are anything but stuff like giant danios, bolivians rams, congo tetras, cyprinid sharks, gouramis, etc… stuff in the 3-5″ range… it just has to be too big to swallow whole
