I have dishonored my family. Suicide is the only option?
I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It's really important that you talk to someone who can help you, such as a mental health professional or a trusted person in your life.

Traditionally you will dress in ceremonial white and will kneel on a large mat of white rice paper before the family altar/shrine or in a garden with you second by your side.
The tanto or short blade will be positioned in front of you in a wooden sheath with a strip of rice paper next to it.
You will untie your obi and open your keogi to expose your lower abdomin.
You will unsheath the tanto, wrapping the balde in the stirp of rice paper so that you can hold both the handle and the blade as you place the point of the tantoat your lower left side.
Looking straight ahead and leaning slightly forward, you will push the blade deeply into your lower left abdomin and pull it straight across to you right side. You must not make a sound as you do this.
Turning the blade up and towards the left, you will make a second diagonal cut slightly upwards and to the left so that you intestines will fall out.
When the pain has become too much to bear you will nod your head to your second as a signal that he should cut off your head as you lean forward.
When you first take your kneeling position it is tradtional to thank those who are in attendance as well as to thank the person who has given you permission to use the room or the garden you are performing the ritual in as you need to ask permission to perform seppuku or hari kiri from the lord of your clan.
This is an extremely painfull manner in which to die and in most cases, those who perform such have trained to do so since childhood.
may it all be well with you.

Commiting suicie is not a solution. So do not do it, it is very well possible to bring honor back to your family name. You will just have to find a way to do it, if you must. Suicide will not do anything but proof that the people that said this to you were correct, and that you have given up fully on proofing them wrong. You will be giving up on everything in life. This is not the answer, go on with life and proof them wrong!!
I don’t believe you have done anything to dishonor your family. You cannot control the actions of your grandchildren. You can try your best to encourage them to go to better schools, but what they ultimately do is beyond your control.
your kids apparently didn’t deserve to be in a top school. otherwise they would have made top grades and gotten full scholarships. if they want to graduate from a better college they should be the top of their class where they attend and then use that knowledge to get a job to pay for the better college.
oh yeah! and i am so sure that suicide would honor them. not.
Isn’t it your grandchildren who have dishonored the family name? Go Seppuku them, instead.
