If it is portrait, then yes. If it is landscape then it will be 24 inches tall and 36 inches wide.
if the poster is 24 inches tall and 36 inches wide, then it is said that the poster is 24”x36”
but if the poster is very huge and it is 24 feet tall and 36 feet wide, then it is said that the poster is 24’x36′
the sign ‘ after the number means feet and ” mean inches
Note:
we call put first the part from up to down, and then the part from left to right doesn’t matter if it is length or width
for example 11” x 8 1/2 ” paper but that not nessasey true

usually the longer side is length. Width is shorter side

If they say it is portrait then the height is up w= 24 ht = 36
landscape w= 36 and ht = 24
