In To Kill a Mockingbird….?

In To Kill a Mockingbird, during the first day of school, the teacher asks everyone to pull out their lunches. Scout mentions that "molasses buckets" appeared from nowhere. What exactly does Scout mean by "molasses buckets," and what significance do they hold in this context?

Jem gets a gun for Christmas. Atticus tells him he can shoot all the bluejays he wants, but to never kill a mockingbird as they cause no harm and just sing for us. There were two people who fit the mockingbird description: Tom Robinson who was innocent and Boo Radley who saved Scout's and Jem's lives. Just read the book and enjoy it from the perspective of a child telling the story.

sorry i don't know the page numbers. but i do know the context of the reference. atticus finch was explaining to scout that mockingbirds do nothing but make music. they do no harm. that is why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. If you remember where in the book that is... hope this helps!!! god bless
