Plz sugest how to defend against ipc 427?

Question

Me and my frnd working in one of infra company and during site work my frnd damages bsnl ofc cable accidently bt as per our statement got from corporation the cables has to be 1mt out from our boundry and minimum 1mt deep from ground level bt the cable which is damaged is found in our boundry and less than 1 mt depth, bt nw the bsnl personal putted an case against him under section of ipc 427 so plz suggest the solution to resolve this matter

Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupeesWhoever commits mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENCE Punishment—Imprisonment for 2 years, or fine, or both—Non-cogniz­able—Bailable—Triable by any Magistrate—Compoundable by the person to whom the loss or damage is caused.Consult a good lawyer or go for a compromise or pay the fine and get out of it.Don’t worry much but pls do not repeat.
