CH3OCH3 + BF3  ?Acids and bases are really messing with me right now in organic chem. I have no problem doing hybridizations, nomenclature, newman projections, etc etc, but acids/bases have always given me a problem since general chem last semester. Argh.Thanks ð

No reaction possible (as far i can tell) coz Fluorine is a strong electron withdrawing group & it will not allow CH3O (-ve) to attack on boron (which is a electropositive element).But if the product are coming.FF (arrow represents electron withdrawing nature of fluorine)Since boron has a tendency to become positive, the electron withdrawing effect of fluorine will hinder the stability.
