what does bourgeois shangri-la mean?
Miss Li performs a song titled "Bourgeois Shangri-La," but I’m unsure about the meaning behind the phrase. Could someone explain its significance or context? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Bourgeois means of the middle class. Shangri-La is another word for paradise in common usage, so it literally means a middle-class paradise. Looking at the lyrics to the song, it sounds a though it’s a song railing against suburbia and suburban life.
A “bourgeois Shangri-la” would imply a kind of fantasy-land or idealized place where the clueless middle-class might hang out and enjoy.
