what does it mean when someone says you are a handsome couple?
I received a lovely compliment on social media, where someone described my husband and me as a "handsome couple." I’m curious, are they complimenting just my husband, or both of us? I have heard this phrase used before, but I'm not sure of the difference between saying a "beautiful couple" and a "handsome couple." Is there a distinction between the two? Thank you! 😊

Although I have no "Source" I believe this is an old English term as the word "handsome" - meaning attractive, charming or pleasant - could also be applied to situations as well as individuals.
A "handsome couple" could mean how the two individuals are meant for each other (perfectly matched) just as much as their outward beauty.
It can mean several things, possibly all of them.
Handsome could mean you are both good looking, it could also mean you are not just physically attractive but what you might call 'cool' as a couple. It probably also means that they consider you, as a couple to be well matched.
It's definately a complement to the pair of you, not just as individuals but as a pair, together.
