What I mean was or What I meant is?
I find this confusing. Every time I use this type of verb, I struggle with whether to say "What I mean was" or "What I meant is." In general, I have difficulty using present tense and past tense in my writing, even though I understand that present refers to "now" and past refers to something that has already happened. Thank you in advance for your help!
