The “answer” by Mick F above is total nonsence from an ill-informed idiot!A potentially unwanted program (PUP) is a program that can be used for either useful or malicious purposes. Either good or evil. Basically your anti-virus wants the user (you) to make the decision.PSKill is a legitimate tool that is used to kill a process, unfortunately, it has also been used to kill processes remotely without the other persons knowledge.more info is here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb…The bottom line is if a user of that computer has specifically installed PSKill then you would not want to remove it. But if it suddenly showed up mysteriously, then you would probably want to delete it.... Show More

With Windows XP, and Vista, open files will not be properly closed, nor does the operating system get a chance to do it’s usual housekeeping chores that a normal power cycle allows it to do. Used to be that simply unplugging a computer could and would often scramble the hard drive and cause a crash. Today, though, Windows has better safeguards, so that if you simply kill the power without a proper shutdown, the open files and so forth are tidied up upon next boot (that’s why you notice it takes longer to boot then). You still have the possibility of scrambling important system files and causing a ‘blue screen of death’ upon next boot up, though. Simply yanking the power cord on a computer is NOT RECOMMENDED as far as the operating system and files on the hard drive are concerned. It won’t really harm the hardware, though. A sudden removal of power will cause the hard drive head to retract and park while it spins down and the rest of the system just dies from lack of electricity.... Show More
