A lithium atom moving at 2.6×105 m/s
I am trying to find the wavelength of a lithium atom moving at a speed of 2.6 × 10^5 m/s. I understand that the equation to use is ( \text{wavelength} = \frac{\text{Planck’s Constant}}{\text{mass} \times \text{velocity}} ). However, I keep getting a result of 3.67 × 10^-34 m, which seems incorrect. I suspect I may be miscalculating the mass of the lithium atom. Can anyone assist me with this?

The atomic weight of Lithium is 6.9 g/mole. If we divide by 1000, to get to kg and then by Avogadro’s number, we get
m=1.15*10^-25
Then use the formula you quoted
lambda=h/(mv)=>(6.6310^-34)/((1.1510^-25)2.610^5)
=2.2*10^-14 meters
Hope that helps.

RE:
Wavelength of lithium atom, please help.?
I am trying to find the wavelength for a lithium atom moving at 2.6×10^5 m/s.
I know that the equation should basically be (wavelength = Planck’s Constant / mass X velocity. I keep getting 3.67 x 10^-34 but it seems wrong. I think I am converting lithium wrong. Can anyone help?
