Am I drinking too much coffee?

I’m a 25 year old female, 5’7″ and weigh 123 pounds so I’m quite thin but not underweight. I drink on average anywhere from 3-5 MUGS, not cups, of coffee per day. My mug holds 12 oz, but I add a lot of cream to my coffee so I fill the mug with a little more than 8oz of coffee and then add just under 1/4 cup of cream, no sugar though. So in total about 30-40oz of coffee per day. I have about 2 cups in the morning, another cup late morning, then another 1-2 cups late afternoon.I’ve always had a low resting heart rate (about 60-62 beats per minute) and low blood pressure (about 90/66). I’m a runner who logs between 2-4 miles a day 5 times a week. I drink about 10 cups of water per day and sleep 7-8 hours. Despite appearing healthy, I’m worried that I’m consuming too much coffee. Am I or do I have no reason to be concerned at this point? Thanks.

I drink about the same amount of coffee with cream as you do. My doc says to try to cut it down to 2 mugs per day, but I haven’t done that. I think what you are doing is pretty safe, and I’ve heard that coffee has anti-cancer agents in it…so it might actually be good for you. Also, you space it out over the day, so I think the negative effects are minimal. If you are concerned I would ask your doctor, but it sounds like you are very healthy and live a very healthy life style. I wouldn’t worry about it.

yes, it is too much. coffein is actually a drug but nobody says this (except russian doctors and scientists)
