Are Bearded Dragons good pets?
I am considering getting a pet and I want one that is easy to care for. I already have fish, which are relatively low-maintenance. I'm not interested in getting a dog, as I've had one before who barked excessively and was always hungry. After reading some books about lizards, I thought that a Bearded Dragon might be a good pet for me, but I'm not entirely sure. Are Bearded Dragons suitable pets for someone seeking a low-maintenance companion?

Generally, yes, bearded dragons are fairly easy to take care of.
I’ve had experiance with almost any pet you can think of. We have fostered animals since I was young, including reptiles.
I got my beardie about 9 months ago. Love him to death, would never think twice about getting him. But his life has been difficult.
Everything started off nice and smooth. He was about six months old at the time, seemed be active and healthy (hadnt yet eaten much but I figured it was due to stress). He came from a friends kid who had grown tired of Tobey.
A couple days after bringing him home, I found him very lethargic, still hadn’t eaten, so I brought my brand new baby to the vet, only to find he had two different parasites, a calcium deficiency, and mouth rot. Over the months, I have slowly nursed him back to health, but he is currently on liquid food that has to be fed to him, and I have spent lots of time and money. Just be aware of what you could be getting into. This goes for any pet.
For entertainment value I’d go for the Ps3. That’ll look really smart in your bedroom you’ll have hours of fun out of it, and can collect new games. The bearded dragon makes a great pet, and is a healthier option I suppose, but the novelty will wear off. If you got a corn snake instead you could get both because baby corn snakes can be as cheap as £20, and you only need to house them in a simple plastic tub for the first few years.

I already have fish but they’re really easy to take care of.
I don’t want a dog because they bark and I already had dog before but he barked really loudly and he was ALWAYS hungry,so I read a book and about lizards and I thought Bearded dragons…

Hello,
Bearded dragons are relatively easy to house reptiles from Australia. They have picked up a special place for themselves in the pet race and are slowly becoming one of the most popular pets for families. Compared to other reptiles, these beardies are friendlier and socialize easily. As bringing any pet home requires owners to be familiar with choosing, housing, feeding and maintenance tips, this is where a good book comes in handy.
The one I recommend can be found here http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=571
Bye Bye
No pet is “easy’ to take care of. Fish don’t count. Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos are both the top 2 best lizard pets. Bearded Dragons are cost about 300-500$ for everything needed. Leopard Geckos it costs about 80-200$ for everything needed.
Bearded Dragons:
Setup, they need ATLEAST a 50 gallon tank. A water dish, a hide, paper towel substarte and drift wood log.
Lighting, They need a UVB UV 10.0 reptisun tube, florsent tube and thermometer.
Feeding, you need to gutload the crickets. To get them full of healthy stuff. Get a cricket keeper, buy abunch(Atleast 1000 5000 be good) of crickets online or at a pet store. Put some cricket gutload cricket cubes and some cricket gutload gel. and let them eat as much crickets the beardie can eat in 15 minutes then take ALL the crickets out of the cage because they will munch on the Dragon. They also eat fruits and veggies. DO NOT feed them avocado, they will die same as flies. Baby Bearded Dragons eat about 1000 crickets a week adults get about 50 a week. Baby Beardies eat atleast 35 crickets daily, adults eat about 15 crickets but mostly veggies.
And Bearded Dragons need to soak in a bath tub 2 times every week. More info:

Leopard Geckos:
They need a 10 gallon tank, paper towel as substrate, Hide box in the middle of the cage, water dish, a thermometer, a heatmatt outside the cage and on the bottom not inside the cage and on the bottom. Also make sure the heatmatt is on the right or left side. The temps should be (70-72 on the cool side and 85-95 on the warm side. That should be the ground temp, not the air temp. The air temp should be normal room temp.)
Feeding. Mealworms or Cickets as a main diet. Mealworm you can hand feed or put them in a dish. Crickets you do need to gutload but you can let them loose in the cage, just make sure you put in some cricket gutload stuff. Baby Leopard Geckos eat 5-10 small mealworms daily or 10-15 crickets daily. Adults eat 5 jumbo mealworms every 2 days or 7 crickets every 2 days.
And when they’re shedding put in some wet moss you buy at a pet store and put it in there hide box. If shed gets stuck on there toes take a damp Q-tip and gently roll it off.

Also not all Dogs are always hungry and barking.
Personally, I think the MaliUromastyx lizards (cousin to the bearded dragon) make better pets, they love to be held, love to go for walks (u can even get them a hamster ball) and they don’t eat crickets! There vegetarians, they LOVE butter lettuce at least mine does XD they get to be about 16-18 inches long, the males are brighter and the females are tanner (The Uromastyx’s) I’ve had mine for bout 2 years and she makes a wonderful pet!! (they don’t bite either they will taste u though lol) there even cheaper too! And really low matnence just change there gravel/litter 1ce a month, give them a bath 1ce a month, clean up there droppings, and feed them! (make sure u have a heat lamp)
hope i helped.. here’s a site for more info:

They make great pets !
I have had my Buddy for a year now and would never think twice about having one. There is some work to them at least how I care for my retiles.Buddy like his bath in the morning and to be fed his vegs.I have found him to like his cricket in the evening more then moring.Maybe because cricket like to be come more active in the night . I have found this site to help with my lizards u can choice which what kind of lizard u want to learn about and it tell it all ! Just check it out before u decide.
Wow, bearded dragon poop smells TERRIBLE and it stinks up the entire room! I have had one, and couldn’t stand the smell. A really neat lizard that is easy to take care of is a Uromastyx. They look like mini dinosaurs! And they come in different colors! (like black and green or blue or yellow or orange….)
And they have the coolest personality! Easy to feed, and the only time that I have been bit was after I was feeding it mealworms, and he mistook my finger for one. Other than that, he likes the side of his neck rubbed!
