A caged bird in the forest meets a wild bird that sits outside of the cage and talks to it. They fall instantly in love but can’t envision being together, because the caged bird wouldn’t like being outside and the wild bird wouldn’t like being caged.
Unless you’ve tasted freedom, you don’t know what it’s like and therefore won’t desire it very much, which is the same as experiencing the freedom and ecstasy of God, until you’ve had an experience of true freedom, you won’t desire Him very much.
