When dividing powers with the same base, the exponents are subtracted.
n^12 ÷ n^4 = n ^(12-4)
Answer: n^8
Dividing different powers with the same base is just like subtracting their power:
n^12/n^4=?
=n^(12-4)
=n^8
When dividing you subtract the indices.
n^12 / n^4 =>
n^(12 – 4) =>
n^8
NB You can only do this when the coefficient ‘n’ is the same throughout.
