Cytochrome Explanation:Cytochromes are critical participants in the electron transport chains used in photosynthesis and cellular respirationEach cytochrome has an iron-containing heme group that accepts electrons and then donates the electrons to a more electronegative substanceIn case of electron transport chain, cytochrome oxidase contains two types of heme group called heme a and heme a3 which catalyzes two coupled reactions: exergonic transfer of electron from cytochrome c to molecular oxygen and endergonic pumping of 2H+ from matrix to intermembrane spaceIn case of photosynthesis, cytochrome b6f complex act as proton pump and transport protons from stroma to lumenCytochrome b6f complex is a transmembrane protein which contains 2 b type cytochrome and 1 c type cytochrome called cytochrome f; cytochrome b6f complex has Fe-S center which involves in single electron transfer reaction... 4) Each cytochrome has an iron‑containing heme group that accepts electrons and then donates the electrons to a more electronegative substance.Explanation:The cytochromes are proteins that contain heme prosthetic groups. Cytochromes undergo oxidation and reduction through loss or gain of a single electron by the iron atom in the heme of the cytochrome:The reduced form of ubiquinone (QH₂), an extraordinarily mobile transporter, transfers electrons to cytochrome reductase, a complex that contains cytochromes b and c₁, and a Fe-S center. This second complex reduces cytochrome c, a water-soluble membrane peripheral protein. Cytochrome c, like ubiquinone (Q), is a mobile electron transporter, which is transferred to cytochrome oxidase. This third complex contains the cytochromes a, a₃ and two copper ions. Heme iron and a copper ion of this oxidase transfer electrons to O₂, as the last acceptor, to form water. Each transporter “downstream” is more electronegative than its neighbor “upstream”; oxygen is located in the inferior part of the chain. Thus, the electrons fall in an energetic gradient in the electron chain transport to a more stable localization in the electronegative oxygen atom.... Show More

By absorbing energy electron is jump into higher energy level. This is called excitation.Explanation:The electron is jumped into higher level and back into lower level by absorbing and releasing the energy. The process is called excitation and de-excitation.Excitation:When the energy is provided to the atom the electrons by absorbing the energy jump to the higher energy levels. This process is called excitation. The amount of energy absorbed by the electron is exactly equal to the energy difference of orbits.  For example if electron jumped from K to L it must absorbed the energy which is equal the energy difference of these two level. The excited electron thus move back to lower energy level which is K by releasing the energy.De-excitation:When the excited electron fall back to the lower energy levels the energy is released in the form of radiations. this energy is exactly equal to the energy difference between the orbits. The characteristics bright colors are due to the these emitted radiations. These emitted radiations can be seen if they are fall in the visible region of spectrum.... Show More

The number of electrons in an atom is the same as the atomic numberC) when the atom is neutral, and the number of electrons equals the number of protons. The number of electrons is never a unique identifier of an atom (it’s the number of protons!).Thus, electronic excitation and radioactive decay are also incorrect options.... When electrons are excited they get more energy and jump to higher orbitals. As they loose that energy that had excited them in the beginning, they tend to return to their original orbitals and the color that is given off is when this is occurring.... Show More
