Help! My dog ate onions!?
While my husband and I were outside emptying the car, we left our coffee table unattended (a mistake, I know!), and our two small dogs managed to jump up and eat about five large onion rings between them. One dog weighs 14 pounds, and the other weighs 16 pounds. Should I be concerned about their health?

You should call your vet or the ASPCA poison control hotline for guidance. While onions can cause anemia, you also have the added concern of onion rings being deep fried food – which can cause pancreatitis, especially in small dogs.
Here is the ASPCA poison control number – (888) 426-4435
HES GOING TO BE FINE i did the exact same thing with my newish pups they had barely bin able to walk around so i left my left overs out and they ate like 10 of my onion rings! EACH i know that meal came with ALOT of onion rings ^w^ but they were perfectly fine i wouldent suggest takeing them to the vet if they give them medicen and they dont need it THAT MAY CAUSE THEM TO DIE! HOPE THIS HELPED!!! :DD
No, not at all. Onions won’t hurt a dog, but they can harm cat’s since they can’t digest them. A dog can digest most any food except Chocolate, seems there is something in chocolate that in some dogs builds to a toxin and kills them so it shouldn’t be given to them, otherwise you have nothing to worry about. We have a 6 pound Chihuahua and she loves onions, is nealy 11 years old too.
Since your dogs are small I would definitely be concerned. As your other answerer said, onions can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. However, at this point they’ve already eaten the onion rings so all you can do is watch for side effects, if any occur. It wouldn’t have been a large amount that they ate, so it’s likely that all will be well. I’ve attached a link to symptoms to be concerned about. Good luck!
Nothing to worry about. My dog has eaten onion rings before. It actually surprised me he ate them as he usually stays away from onions. Since they are not used to it they may have loose bowels for a bit.
Might likely be fine, but keep an eye out for symptoms of onion poisoning just in case. If anything like that happens, call a vet! http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/StoryTemplate_…
Try visiting a vet and told the doctor your dog ate onions and i should be worried.
They should be o.k.
Most dogs get into human food and dont even change!
Just keep your eye on them and if someting changes such as their eating/drinking/bowel movement habits, make a visit to the vet. If after about 5 days nothing happens, they are probably fine! ?
