How do you say / spell beautiful in the Irish Gaelic language?
I have been searching for the correct way to say and spell the word "beautiful" in Irish Gaelic. I am considering a tattoo that says either "beautiful" or "beautiful girl." I believe that "beautiful" is translated as "álainn," if I am correct. Additionally, I think "beautiful girl" translates to "Cailín álainn." However, I have seen "álainn" spelled as "hálainn" or "h-álainn" as well. What is the correct way to translate "beautiful" and "beautiful girl" in the Irish Gaelic language, considering they will be used for tattoos? I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

You are right!
álainn – beautiful
cailín álainn – beautiful girl
The “h” (“h-” in the older spelling) is used at other times. For example:
an cailín álainn – the beautiful girl
Tá an cailín go hállain – The girl is beautiful.

Here is a link to a folk-song called “An Cailín Állain”:

The singer is a fluent, native speaker so you can listen to how he says “Cailín Állain” and pronounce it like he does.
