I ran 2 miles in 30 minutes?
I recently started running, and this was my second session. I completed 2 miles in 30 minutes, including one walking break. I pushed myself harder than during my first run. My goal is to run 2 miles in 15 minutes. Am I making good progress for a beginner? Do you have any tips to help me reach my goal?

You are doing good for a beginner, but if you work on it more and be creative you could get 15 minutes. Try to also lose fat and gain more muscle tone. If you are physically strong, try running more than 2 miles in practices. Then run 2 miles in a pace of (each 200m - 55 seconds) (each 400m - 1:50) (each 800m or half mile - 3:40) (each mile 7:30)

I wonder if some people come on here just to be mean so they can feel better about themselves. Just by looking around the Internet at running guidelines for beginners you can see that 2 miles in 30 minutes is actually pretty good for a beginner. Why would you even compare a beginner to people who have been running for years and to people in the military? Oh, and saying you can walk 2 miles and saying you can run 2 miles is not the same thing.
30 minutes is actually really slow. I'm not sure what your physical condition is but you definitely want to get 1 mile under 10 minutes first and foremost. Build your stamina up from that point forward and eventually you will get to 7 minute miles which while get you to 2 miles in 15 minutes.
Make for sure you are hydrated, ALWAYS. The fact that you ran a 30 minute 2 mile is because you are a beginner! Yeah that's not the best 2 mile in the world, but working at it is how you make it happen! Practice makes perfect!
Just keep running 30 minutes is about 15 minutes a mile which is pretty slow. You must have stopped a lot
Maybe you are mistaken about the distance because those numbers are way off for running. I am a middle-aged woman and can WALK 2 miles in 25 minutes without exerting myself. 4 miles an hour is a typical brisk walking speed.
You need to measure your route again because something is awry. It might not even be possible to cover only 2 miles in that long a period and actually be using a running gait.
30 minutes is bad, but that is okay because there is only room for improvement. (: Try to run at a pace that you can run the whole time without stopping. If you want to reach your goal you will have to run everyday or almost everyday. Some days run two miles and others only one. On the days you run one mile try to hit a 7:30.

That is I'm sorry to say far far below average. And to half your time is basically impossible to do within a time limit of less than at least a year and a half. If you want to improve it your going to have to run for something like 5 miles but then that would take over an hour which I don't think would be good for you to be out running if you're only a beginner.
