I want to dye my hair a purple/plum color w/o bleach?
I want to dye my hair a purple or plum color without using bleach. My hair is very dark brown, almost black, and my mom won’t allow me to bleach it. Do you have any suggestions on how to achieve a vibrant color without bleaching? Additionally, which brands would you recommend for this purpose?

If you just try to apply the hair color, it is not going to lift your natural hair color. It is just going to deposit purple pigments on top of your color, and probably make your hair look quite a bit darker. With a color that just deposits, you will HAVE to bleach first for it to show up.
Now, there are some professional hair colors like CHI’s High Lift colors, and TIGI’s Mixmasters that will lift and deposit hair color on your hair. But, these do the exact same thing as bleach, their is just no actual bleach involved. It will lift you hair color to a light blonde, while depositing the purple at the same time. However, it is still going to do just as much damage as bleach. And as the color fades out over a few weeks, the hair underneath the color is going to be very light. It essentially does the same thing as bleach.
Also, these are colors that are only available to professionals to be used for professional use. They can’t sell you the color to do at home. They will have to do it at their salon.
I’m sorry, bleach or developer to lift your own hair color is going to always be involved. It’s something you’ll have to discuss with your stylist and your mother.
Do NOT leave any color on your hair for six hours. Whether it be semi permenant or permenant. It will still damage your hair. You do not want to melt it off.
Also, anything you buy from your local beauty supply store or walmart is not going to be permanent. It will wash out within a few weeks. Unnatural colors are the hardest to keep on hair – even permenant purple will only stay for a bit more than a month before it’s completely faded out. If you want something that you’re not going to have to re-dye every two weeks, you have to go professional.

my hair is really dark brown–almost black,my mom won’t let me bleach it so do u have any suggestions on how to make the color look good? or what brand to use–which would u recommend
I just died my hair a plum color. You used Jazzing hair color (at local beauty supply $3.99)and the color is called cherry cola. The instructions say leave it on for 15 minutes. I leave it on for about six hours. Since it is semi-permanent it won’t damage your hair and the color wil;l look really nice. MAke sure you use a shampoo that is used for color treated hair.
Well I have been coloring my hair blonde for a long time now. It’s not black but a dark brown. The particular main reason I do this is actually to hide the gray hairs that will my kids are starting to give me. I trying to hide the age.

Just apply it like a color.. But it won’t show up good. You may be able to see a little bit in the sun. You need Bleach..Dark hair doesn’t take well to color….ANY color.
