In Korean, what does “Aish!” mean?
I’ve been curious about the expression “Aish!” that I frequently hear from a Korean band I follow. In a recent video, one of the members used it and then said, “Ah, sorry, I said sh!” I apologize for the crude language, but I'm trying to understand the context here. I've heard that “Aish!” is used as a sigh of exasperation, but I've also come across claims that it is considered a “bad word” and is equivalent to “sh” in English. Can anyone provide clarity on its meaning and usage?

아이씨….뭐야(common girl saying) = Oh come on, that’s not true
if someone says
아이씨 젠장 (Aisshi jenjahng) = crap darn
It doesn’t really have a direct translation imo. If you use it when you’re frustrated then it is a bad word but you need the context to know whether the word makes it a bad word or not. The first case when a girl used isn’t too bad.
If you use the F word per se, it will always be a bad word. Aisshi is a type of word where it depends on the context. Hope it helps.

Alright, so.
I’ve been wondering this for a while … I’m very into a Korean band, and so many times I’ve heard the expression, “Aish!” From them.
In a recent NG I saw, one of them said it and then said, “Ah, sorry, I said sh**!”
So, I apologize for the crude…

AISH doesn’t mean “s*hit”.
“shee-bahl” means s*hit. lol
AISH is more like… “ah crap!” or.. “oh no!”
It IS a sigh of exasperation. It’s a huge “sigh”.
examples:
Aish! I just missed the bus!
Aish! I just got robbed by a 10 year old!
