In this excerpt from Act V, Scene I of Twelfth Night, Viola reveals her identity by speaking of her father and her lost brother. She says: "I am from Messaline. My father’s name was Sebastian, and my brother was also named Sebastian. When he drowned, he was dressed exactly as you are now. If it’s possible for ghosts to take on someone’s body and clothing, then you must be a spirit sent to frighten us."

Translated version:I’m from Messaline. Sebastian was my father’s name, and my brother was named Sebastian too. He was dressed just like you are when he drowned. If ghosts can take on someone’s body and clothes, you must be a spirit who’s come to frighten us.
