Oil paints- How long does it take to dry?
It's been two days, and the paint is still as wet as the day I applied it. Did I make the layers too thick? Can anyone provide some guidance?

It depends on
1. The thickness of the paint
2. The type and brand of oil paint
3. The colour of the paint
4. Where it is left to dry
Really thick oil paints will form a skin within a week or two but will take 6 months – or longer to fully fully dry
Normal thick paint will dry quicker and usually is touch dry within a week and fully dry with in 2-3 weeks
Artist quality paints dry slower than student quality and different brands dry slower than others, I have hand-made paint from the eastern Europe and it takes ages to dry – I use a fast drying thinner to help it dry faster – you can also use a ‘cobalt dryer’, a solution with cobalt in it , however over use will create cracking in the paint so i avoid it,
Some colours take longer to dry than others, I find white take ages to dry and red, blue seems to dry quicker – this all depends on brand / quality and pigment – so a white in student quality might dry much faster.
If I need a painting to dry fast i stick it in the hotpress, or leave it on a south facing window, becareful of leaving a canvas too close to a heat source- it can warp the wood- A cold damp room is the worst place for a painting to dry fast.
Drying can take up to a month. But curing can take forever lol. Some of Davinci’s paintings and other artists are still not completely cured.
Also if you want faster results in painting use an accelerate in the oil paints or switch to acrylics.
acrylics will dry in about a day at the most unless you use really thick parts on the canvas.

Oil painting can be quite a complex subject and many factors are involved. Very simply it will depend a lot on the pigment (colour) in the paint, some dry more quickly than others, and whether you have added more oil or turpentine. Also depending on the way you want to use the paint you can be talking days weeks or even months. I could be on here for hours giving you advice, but really it comes down to whether you want to spend a lot of time becoming an accomplished oil painter or not. Either is fine, it depends on what you want. There are good books available, and good websites. So if you are keen, investigate, take notes and practice. Good luck
It really depends. But since you used it straight from the tube it will take at least a few days to a week to dry. It would be a wiser choice to use fabric paint, but if you are really pressed for time I suggest just using acrylic paint. Just go run to a craft store and get a small tube, you would not want to run a rally in a shirt with oil paint that has not dried, its gonna get messy.

Oil paints are cotinually drying. It takes about six months before you may varnish a painting(to prevent cracking)
If your still working on your painting it usually will be dry to the touch in 3-4 days depending on how much medium your using
3-4 days, depending on how much paint you used do it. Oil paint can be a little slow when it comes to drying.*
to dry faster the medium which we add in oil paint must be thin or thick ?
