I’m not altogether sure about this, but this is how i interpret it:
Our conscience defines the character that we are because it dictates our behaviour. Therefore a conscience is a condensed(compressed) character.
I would say it’s the part of the brain that does the reasoning. The analytical part of right and wrong. They say the right hemisphere does one thing and the left controls others. This should be a good question for a Psychology major.
OR, can also be what is instilled on us by our parents and society as to what is accepted behavior and what morals are to try molds our character.
sense of right and wrong: the sense of what is right and wrong that governs somebody’s thoughts and actions, urging him or her to do right rather than do wrong
^well if somebody will follow his own conscience , he is just doing what’s right and he is not pretending that he is wrong in a particular situation
^if you’ll not follow your conscience ,,,you’re lying(liar) to his self
