What are the differences between Remington 700 and 770 models?.?

Well first off let’s start with quality. Comes with a crappy stock, hard actionable if not broken in alot, accuracy, and is only magazine fed that’s the 770. Now the 700, first of most widely used military and police sniper, proven accuracy and great accuracy with bull barrel, very smooth action right out of box, not an ugly looking gun, but more pricy, and is mainly a stripper clip fed or whatever u call it u just put them in 1 at a time. I was in the same dilemma. The 700 is better and u get what u put into it. But don’t let the 770 fool u it’s still accurate! I would just put a nice dura oat painjob on it. And u can find both rifles in magnum rounds. If u wanna target shoot and big game hunt get the .308 u can hunt anything in the lower 48 states with that caliber. Hope this helps.

The 770 is a cheaply made excuse of a Remington rifle. Its a mockery of all Remington 700s. The bolts on them are very sloppy and you can jam a bullet or completely miss the bullet going into the chamber. The slings eyes on the 770 stock are molded into the stock, unlike the 700s where they are threaded in and you can take them out if you please. In essence the 770 is the poor mans 700 and it shows it. You can get them in up to i think .300 Magnum. In the 700 not sure what the max caliber is. I think .338 Lapua Magnum, but that’s very expensive.If someone was going to get a 770 i would say get a Savage rifle. Savage rifles are cheap but not to the extent that the 770. The 770 is a disgrace to Remington.

The 770 is a piece of junk that is made to be used for a year and then thrown away. The 700 is a very good rifle that will last a very long time. If you want a good, cheap bolt action in .308 (exactly what I just recently spent months researching) you should get a Savage Stevens 200. It’s about $400 with a scope usually and it is a very,very good rifle. You can get the cheaper Savage Axis, but it’s, well, cheaper and not as well made.

Some good answers here already. It’s like asking what’s the difference between a Chevy and a Cadillac – the Cadillac here being the model 700.You often get what you pay for. When it comes to the 770, you don’t quite get what you pay for…unless you are a masochist and enjoy owning a rifle that will never shoot as well as you do.

The 770 is a cheap version of the 700 with lower quality parts and tolerances. And I can tell you know nothing about guns or these rifles in particular considering what you asked and how you asked it. Why not get a 300 winchester magnum. It’s has magnum in its name and is a powerfull caliber.

+1 jaredI’d add that I have heard, though I do not own one, that the 770 rattles, and the bolt isn’t smooth. The 700 I have enjoyed shooting, plenty accurate and at $2 -300 more, well worth it.Remember, you buy cheap you buy twice
