Is it true that our taste buds change every seven years?

Someone told me that every 7 years (or thereabouts) our taste buds go through a change and we experience something called the 7-year palette change. I agree that my tastes have changed because in recent years i have learned to like some foods that i used to really hate eating. Is it true that our taste buds can change like this?

As you age, you lose taste buds. When you’re very young you have a lot of taste buds and are very sensitive to taste, hence the reason you hated some foods which you can now eat without complaint. Also, repeatedly eating a food you don’t like makes you used to it.I don’t know about the “7-year palette change” thing, sounds sort of like a myth. All I know is that you lose taste buds as you age.... Show More
Ok, here’s what I know. My foot was a 7.5 from the 6th grade until I got pregnant at 19, and they grew to an 8. They have been an 8 for 20 years now, so that was the only time they grew, and have not grown since. Your height and growth altogether have to do with your hormones. Basically, my daughters gynocologist told us that a girl grows for 3 years after her period begins, and then growth basically stops. For boys, it is much later. A boy can continue to grow until he is about 20 years old. Taste buds don’t have a preference, your BRAIN decides what tastes it likes, not your taste buds. That’s a ridiculous idea. Smoking, certain medications and certain environmental toxins can alter your taste buds so that they are deadened to certain things. Spicy things may not be as spicy, etc. Your brain and your personality may change, and you once may not have cared for mushrooms, or spicy foods, but then developed a liking for them. Again, when I was pregnant, I ate lemon italian ice like it was going out of style. I don’t really eat it anymore. Also, when you’re young, you may LOVE Big Macs and Slurpees, but at 40, you just THINK about a Big Mac and you wanna hurl. I hope I answered your questions!... Show More

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/JXL9uIt’s true, your feet never stop growing and your taste buds don’t change. If you loved PB&J sandwiches once, you’re always going to love them, so I just think that the more you get to know and eat different kinds of foods, you just get used to it I guess. Have a great day!!! :o)... Show More
it’s not 7 years…. your taste buds live for 3 days. what’s changing is not the buds themselves, but how your brain responds to the tastes your receptors signal in your tongue. so… you just learn to like stuff 😛 it’s a change in your brain, not your mouth. 🙂... Show More
