What does bonafide rarity mean?

Someone said that I was a bonafide rarity, and I'm not sure how to react.

I think you meant bona fide which is another word for real. It implies that you are a real and legit rarity. The word bona fide just puts some flair in the meaning of real.Tell them thank you! Unless they were yelling it at you...lol... Show More

It basically means 'for certain' or along those lines If someone is a bonafide smarta$$ it means that they are almost a smarta$$. If you are a bonafide lawyer it means you are a fully qualified lawyer, so if i say 'I am a bonafide lawyer' it means 'i am a fully qualified and trained lawyer, for sure'.
