What does Contingent Permanent mean?

I recently received a letter for possible working as a correctional officer. It asks if I wish to be in one box is says permanent and then the other box says permanent and contingent permanent. I am looking to be full time in the position, so should I just fill the box that says permanent? When I called the HR they said I should check permanent and contingent permanent. But I am unsure of what that means.

Contingent means “subject to chance” or ” occurring only if certain circumstances are the case”, so I’m guessing it means “do you want to be permanent if the chance arose?”I would do what their HR department ask and tick BOTH boxes.... Show More
