What does Farquaad mean?
I was watching Shrek the other day with my family, and my stepdad mentioned something about the joke behind the name "Lord Farquaad." Curious, I asked him what it meant, but he said he’d explain it later. Now I’m wondering—what does the name "Farquaad" mean? Thanks in advance! 🙂

The name “Farquaad” may be a play on a much more impolite word (cf. Wiktionary:f*ckwad).
[edit] Noun
*******
(vulgar slang) Nearly synonymous with f*ckload, but perhaps more used for measuring than counting
ex: “That’s going to cost a f*ckwad of money.”
(vulgar slang) A derogatory slur or insult to denote someone of sub-standard intelligence. Similar in usage to dipsh*t
Ex: “He put his shoes on the wrong feet!?! What a f*ckwad.”

Lord Farquaad is the short-in-stature, ruthless ruler of the huge castle of Duloc. Several times in the film it is commented that, in Duloc’s towering height, Farquaad may be compensating for something (in reference to his height).
