First hand account means the person telling the story or doing the talking is the one who had the experience himself.
I say Britney told me her first-hand account of the time when she fell into the pool. That means Britney herself fell into the pool.
Another expression that is less common “second hand account” which means the person telling the story heard it from someone else.
I say Britney told me her second hand account of the time when Jessica fell in the pool.
So, Britney reported from Jessica who fell into the pool.
Hope this helps.
you witnessed an event personally and are not relying on someone else’s version or opinion
