What does MECH. mean on floor plan?

I was reviewing a floor plan for an apartment and noticed that one of the rooms was labeled "MECH." It appears to be slightly larger than the closets, but I'm unsure what "MECH" stands for. Can anyone clarify its meaning and purpose in the context of the floor plan?

MECH means mechanical room. It is where the heating unit, a/c, water heater, etc. are located when those units are inside an apartment.

CE: Commen Element. This consists of all shared areas. Hallways, shared lawns, etc. LCE: Limited Common Elements: These are shared areas that have been assigned to the sole use of one home owner. These will consist of storage units, parking spaces, etc. So essentially, all CEs and LCEs are owned by all homeowners, although all homeowners will not have use of all LCEs as they would with CEs. ?

Mechanical room, which could be for a furnace, water heater, elevator equipment, telecommunications connections, etc. This would likely only be accessible by the apartment maintenance people and shouldn't be considered living space.
