What is a place line in an article?
In an article, I understand there are elements like the headline and byline. However, I am curious about the term "place line." What exactly does a place line refer to in the context of an article?

That’s referred to as the dateline. It’s right at the beginning of the story, and looks sort of like this:
NEW YORK — The stock market was higher today …
It identifies where the writer was located, and/or where the story takes place.
