What is the chemical equation for burning acetone?

Could someone provide the balanced chemical equation for the combustion of acetone (C3H6O)? I know the formula starts with C3H6O + O2 → ?, but I’m not sure how to complete it. I’m studying physics, not chemistry, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

The balanced equation for the complete combustion of acetone is as follows...

C3H6O + 4 O2 --> 3 CO2 + 3 H2O

Complete combustion reactions always use oxygen and produce CO2 and H2O...

Hope this helps!!!

So you may have heard that there was a big problem with polycarbonate bottles recently. But funny enough that poly carbonate is not solely carbonate. But is in fact a polymer of Bisphenol A and phosgene. Getting to what you want. Bisphenol A is made from reacting 2 equivalents of p-hydroxyphenol with acetone. Check out the link.

When you burn something, you react it with oxygen. You have three elements present in acetone that need to combine with oxygen to form products. What are the possible products? C combines with O to form CO2, generally, and H combines with O to form H2O. The oxygen is extraneous and so when balancing the equation you just need to make sure it's balanced:

C3H6O + 4O2 ---> 3CO2 + 3H2O
