It mostly depends on the girl. I think cute is really sweet to say, but when a guy calls me that i think im like a little puppy dog cute. I LOVE to be called beautiful, that is probably the number one best thing to call a girl, so if she is kind of special to you, call her beautiful. Prety is kind of in the plain catagorie.
