Which is stronger Dark Roast or Columbian?

I'm curious about which coffee is stronger: Colombian or a dark roast, such as French or Italian? For instance, if I were to order from Starbucks, which option would provide a stronger flavor? I have a gift card and would like to choose something bold. Thank you!

If you want a stronger tasting coffee, then Tom has your answer.

If you want a stronger coffee, as in caffeine content, then no one has answered correctly.

The stronger tasting a coffee might be, has no relation to how much caffeine it contains.

Roasting leaches oils and caffeine from the bean, meaning the darker the roast, the less caffeine it has left in it.

Stronger caffeine coffees include Breakfast blend, espresso roast beans and any “medium” roast.

Coffees with less of a caffeine buzz include french roast, Spanish roast, or any bag or can that tells you “Dark” roast.

just remember, the darker the roast, the less caffeine you will get.

Columbian isn’t a roast, it’s a bean. The darkest roast is Spanish, but it isn’t widely available. Here are the darkers roasts:

French, Espresso

Beans are starting to get dark brown, and French roasted beans are shiny with oil. There is less acidity, but with burned undertones. This roast is often used when making Espresso. Many people think this is the darkest roast available, but that’s not true.

Italian, Dark French

Similar to regular French, but more so. Darker and oilier looking, and with a stronger burned flavour.

Spanish

Darkest roast of all. Colour is nearly black, and the flavour is flat with a charcoal undertone

Usually anything dark or expresso is strong, but please be careful. If you make it a habit of drinking very strong coffee it can mess your heart rate and blood pressure. I know because I was raised on expresso coffee as a Spanish child, age four. Now I have problems with blood pressure and palpitations.
