A graduated cylinder, also known as a measuring cylinder, is a piece of laboratory equipment used to accurately measure the volume of a liquid. Water displacement can be used to find out the volume of a solid object. Graduated cylinders are generally more accurate and precise for this purpose than flasks and beakers. Often, the largest graduated cylinders are made of polypropylene for its excellent chemical resistance or polymethylpentene for its clarity, making them lighter to ship and less fragile than glass.

1 ml = 1 cm^3 density = mass/volume (density)(volume) = mass 11.3 g/cm^3(45.6-10cm^3) = mass mass = (35.6)(11.3g) mass = 402.3 g
