can i feed my dog white rice everyday?
Can I feed my dog white rice every day? I mix it with chopped chicken and other meats (without salt), as well as carrots and occasionally corn. Is it healthy to feed my dog this daily? He is quite a picky eater and would rather starve than eat dry dog food. If it is safe, what else can I incorporate into his diet along with the rice?

I’d drop the corn add some green beans but other than that sounds great. My vet once put my dog on white rice, browned hamburger meat and cottage cheese. My dog, a dachshund refused to eat the meat, rice and cheese combo. The vet said let it sit he’ll eat it. I said no he won’t the vet said why – and I had to tell him that my little darling lifted his leg and peed in it-lol. The dog I have now loves home cooking and will eat whatever I cook. I cook for my dog – I make him chicken and rice He loves veggies too. carrots raw, potatoes, raw, green beans cooked or raw, cauliflower raw – zucchini or yellow squash – raw. Good luck -k-

Cooking for a dog is not a healthy option. Cooking destroys necessary nutrients, and cooked bones can’t be eaten. To cook a dog’s food, you really need to be an expert in canine nutrition– and you need to supplement painstakingly. Do some research into a raw diet. It’s far healthier than cooked or commercial– and far easier for you. But I’d even go back to commercial dog food before attempting to cook for my dogs… Add: I’m shocked at some of these ridiculous answers. I don’t understand why people would answer a question like this if they have done absolutely no real research about the topic– they’re risking the health of a living being by giving completely uneducated advice. At least do some research of your own– there are tons of books about canine nutrition. Raw and Natural Nutrition for Dogs by Lew Olson has extensive information about both cooked and raw home-prepared diets. Good luck.

If you ask a veterinarian, the answer will be that a homemade diet almost never meets the nutrional needs of a dog. White rice will not hurt your dog but has virtually no nutrional value other then adding calories from starch.
If it’s available where you live, you might consider Bil-Jac frozen dog food. Like all commercially available dogfoods, it’s nutritionally complete but since it is for the most part meat, most all dogs will eat it and generally don’t get the digestive problems (puking) associated with a quick change of diet or raw meat diets. It’s cost is higher then dry df but less then canned df.
Normally for an ill dog the vet say to give chicken and rice.
My dogs is eating white rice and meat every day – i do make a different every dag. I am doing this for almost 2 years and they are very well. I just add some gravy of bobtail for them and they are licking out there bowls
Yes, you can feed him rice every day. It won’t hurt him as long as you mix in meat and veggies with it. Carrots are good and so are peas. Also try apples. I know it sounds weird but cooked in with the meat and rice, dogs love it. Never, ever give him onions though as they are not good for him.
I feed my dog Aunt Jeni’s and I swear by it. Check out the website and maybe take it into consideration. Just about every dog would love to eat what they are naturally meant to!

Yes,
Just don’t feed him any kind of sausage !!!! It causes bloating in his stomach ,and can cause serious health problems.
Our Mastiff is very picky too ! She wouldn’t eat the more expensive foods she will only eat Kibbles -n- Bits dog food and people food. So we mix them so she will get everything she needs. We don’t put allot of people food in it just enough to flavor it so that she will eat.
Since we have been doing that she has been eating good and is in perfect health.
my vet recommended white rice with lean hamburger meat when my dog wouldn’t eat her food. It worked she loved it.
