Can I make Hamburger Helper without meat or a meat substitute?
I am curious if it's possible to prepare Hamburger Helper without using meat or a meat substitute. Specifically, I was wondering if I could make it using just water and milk. I thought about reducing the amount of water and sauce mix to create a simple pasta dish. What are your thoughts on this approach?

You could do it. YOu dont have to cut any of the water out.
It might help to put some vegies in... to add to it.
I used to do that all the time.
happy experimenting. 🙂

I was wondering if I could make HH with just water and milk. I thought maybe I could cut out some of the water and sauce mix, to make just a pasta dish.
What do you think?

You can I do it because I can't digest meat and I like hamburger helper when I need a quick dinner cause its late.
I guess it is possible. However whenever I have made it (usually only the lasagna one) I notice the sauce has a tangy, almost sweetness to it. I think it has it for a reason and that is when the hamburger is introduced it sort of dulls down that sweet flavor. So the sauce by itself may be a little strong on its own. Just a theory on my part. Happy experimenting!

Don't think you would have to cut out any liquid. The end result will be exactly what you are looking for Pasta in sauce with no meat. But why would you want to do this?
you can, but it won't be as good. If you want to substitute anything, add in tempeh, a soy meat like product found in health sections of your store, its meaty, and great in this dish.
Or add in some olives, something for the sauce to grab onto to, or it won't thicken as well.
