Can Rhodium stick to magnet?

I recently bought an expensive necklace that was described as being made of rhodium, with a pendant made of crystal. One day, while my brother was playing with it, he discovered that the necklace can stick to a magnet. Does this mean I was ripped off, or is it possible for rhodium to be magnetic?

Rhodium is not magnetic, and will not stick to a magnet. (See the "magnetic ordering" in the wiki rhodium source below.)

Which doesn't mean you were ripped off. It's possible that your rhodium was alloyed with a magnetic metal. Note that alloying metals for jewelry is not uncommon, for instance gold is almost always some sort of alloy.

On the other hand, are you sure it's was supposed to be rhodium and not just rhodium plated. I've read that nickel is commonly used in conjunction with rhodium plating, and nickel is magnetic.

If you are just talking about the element Rhodium in its pure form, it will not stick to a magnet. But, there are many cases where something is called "Rhodium", but it is actually a mixture of Rhodium and other metals, and some of these will stick to a magnet.

its rhodium plated

rhodium is going for 1000 $/oz right now, not too long ago it was $10,000/ oz.

solid rhodium isn't used for much.

its not magnetic, its a platinum family element.

1st locate it, use a screw or a nail and move it over not on the surface of the tank. Once located if it's reasonable accessible you could use another magnet on a piece of steel rod taped on, or wood and fish around in side. If it's in a location you cannot get to just leave it alone. Don't, if you have one, put a sat nav any where near it cos it get screwed up. If ya definitely want it out it's tank off drain it remove the petrol tap/s and fish around through this / these holes inside until you can get it out.
